69 years of our own independent identity, our tryst with destiny. More than half a century of confidence, diligence, progress and pride! 69 years of this independence which was won by means as diverse as the people, languages and cultures of this subcontinent. The independence which was preceded by a mass movement which showcased the power of non-violence to the whole world, the power of undeterred intention, the power of the people, the power of an upcoming democracy, and gave the world the legacy of Mahatma Gandhi, Bhagat Singh and Subhash Chandra Bose. Announced to the world that India had awoken again. On this day in 1947, India was back at its feet after centuries of subordination, exploitation and slavery. On this day the world stood still and took note as the world's largest democracy took its first bold step into an independent future.

Home to a 1.25 billion people with uncountable belief systems, dialects and cultures Indian democracy is a prime example of peaceful co-existence amongst all the varied and colorful cultures of the world. Today, independent India stands tall as a pioneer and trendsetter in science and technology, tourism and hospitality, and is the world's favorite Guru for health and spirituality. With an unshaken belief in the unique concept of 'One world family' (Vasudev Kutumbakam) India believes in its duty towards the world society and in the preservation of Independence the world over.
