About:
Holosphere VR worked with Dr Sheila Popert, Medical Director at St Giles Hospice to create the lush, calming environment of the Forest of Serenity. The VR app was developed as part of a Pain Management Programme which strives to help those suffering from pain to reduce their reliance on drugs.
The soothing tones of Sir David Attenborough guide you through a forest populated by animated birds of paradise and exotic flora while at the same time helping you release your pain.
This 360 video gives you a taste of the unparalleled immersion that is experienced when using the Room Scale VR which allows the viewer to explore the environment at their own pace and in six degrees of freedom. Feedback from patients using the VR experience has been overwhelmingly positive.
The VR version, which can be downloaded free from the St Giles Hospice website, is available for use with Oculus Rift and HTC Vive. A version for use with a mobile phone and Gear VR headset will be available from the Oculus store in the next few weeks.
