■Tokyo
The Shibuya Scramble Crossing: One of the most photogenic spots in Tokyo

Toki seven tea:A specialty shop for authentic bubble milk tea.

SHIBUYA109:The shopping mecca that is a source and a symbol of youth culture and fashion.

“Bon-Odori”: A Japanese summer tradition. “The bon-odori” is traditionally a dance performed to pray for the souls of ancestors, but has now become an entertaining summer festival.

■Ishikawa
Kanazawa Station: The only Japanese train station to be selected as one of the world’s 14 most beautiful stations.

Higashi Chaya District: A teahouse district founded around 200 years ago near the castle. The traditional streets and alleys are lined with restaurants and cafes operating in restored “kominka” (Japanese folk houses). You can rent a kimono to wear while strolling around the area.

Kenroku-en Garden: One of the Three Great Gardens of Japan, established in the 17th century. It is a delight to walk around the spacious garden and see its ponds, hills, houses and tearooms.

Kanazawa Castle: A symbol of Kanazawa’s history, built over 400 years ago. The stone walls, crafted by many artisans using various techniques not found in other castles, and the majestic gates are well worth the trip.

Yamashiro Onsen: A spa town of some 1300 years standing, where hot springs and traditional cuisine await.
